Marie, I also have Polymyalgia Rhuematica and I have been weaned down off Prednisone from 30mg a day to 8mg in 6 months. I have gained some weight too. That is normal when taking this poisonous medication. Seven months ago, I was lifting weights, riding my bike and generally a very fit person. PMR changed that significantly. If you can, walk a lot. If you can, workout every day. Do anything you can as this helps the PMR immensely. It does hurt when you begin, but relief comes almost instantly when you are done with physical exercise. Another thing that helps is a hot bath and stretching after working out. I recently went off of wheat as I have done a lot of reading about diet and arthritis. This has helped a great deal with the pain. I also lost about 5 lbs of fluid around my tummy area after 3 days of being off wheat. Good luck!

I take a baby aspirin daily and so far that is it. I occasionally have to get a blood draw. My spleen is enlarged and I itch sometimes and lack energy. I have wondered about magnesium in my diet. Do you think it is safe for me to take a magnesium supplement? Would you have any other recommendations for me? I am 51 and plan on living my life to the fullest.

Not really mg related but my daughters food intolerance test came back 37 foods she is sensitive to – …#3 all gluten wheat rye barley spelt oats etc, then #4 chickpeas pistachios, kefir cooked cows milk. My question is does organic yogurt have the same affect as the kefir, as you mention kefir/yoghurt together? We have been eating organic yoghurt for the probiotics.
I am really concerned she has leaky gutt, maybe celiac do you think she could have? I understand the brain gutt connection and she is ver distracted unfocused in school, always fiddling about, falls over allot and knocks things about, accident prone etc.
How do I test for these celiac and leaky gutt.
Reallyappreciate your advice dr. Axe pls help.
Concerned mama.

I heard for cramps take yellow mustard, or pickle juice, will help. It is possible that you might have a deficiency potassium, or zinc. ( a friend of mine found out she was anemic -low in iron- and had some reactions like foot and leg cramps) may be you can try it?

Sugestion For pain, eat black cherries (frozen, can, juice etc). Put some turmeric powder 1/4 ts. with food that contains some fat like olive oil and black pepper, Also ginger (fresh its better) make a tea or with food, and finally raisins with gin (let dry the gin to evaporate… in a glass or bown put some golden raisins fill with gin only to cover them, let dry and evaporate the gin) eat 9 or 10 every day before breakfast (but 1 hour before taking any medication) . all of these are home remedies that work for some people.

I eat no gluten/dairy/soy/sugar/GMO…take vitamins/good oils, LDN, Vit C, zinc, fish oil, Mg citrate, Vit D3….HCl and enzymes with meals, dairy free probiotic at night, Vit B12 methylcobalamin shot/spray/under the tongue kind, MTHF folate, Nature’s plus- Source of life multiple, Amour thyroid, bioidentical hormones and more. Low oxygen in my brain due to sugar swelling my brain or gluten/dairy/soy/GMO hurting me causes me low sleep. Sleeping pills may not help sleep, but may hurt day time driving a car etc. Rebuilding cells so they burn more oxygen with Celiac diet and supplements helps my sleep. Vit B12 shot greatly helped my sleep. Best wishes.

I take Vit B12 methylcobalamin shot/spray/under the tongue kind and MTHF folate. Eating no gluten/dairy/soy/sugar/GMO and taking vitamins/good oils, LDN, detoxing helps me. HCl and enzymes with meals, dairy free probiotic may help. See my other comments. Best wishes.

LDN helps block hidden gluten. I had to stop all premade food in a box/bag/label. LDN is awesome help . Gluten may make antibodies to the thyroid…..Amour thyroid may help constipation. Raw walnuts (open shells to avoid hidden gluten and freeze them) and then drink lemon juice in water which may squirt out bile and then cause a bowel movement. Chia on rice helps my constipation or drinking more water/more exercise/more fiber etc. Osteoprocare helps me instead of dairy. Best wishes.

HI, Gluten may make antibodies to the thyroid and lower nutrients absorbed. I had 1000X more energy in two weeks with no gluten and felt 20 years younger. What I do is listed in other comments. That is the short version. That is great you are healing. Most people can’t have gluten, but few figure it out. Tests may not work to diagnose Celiac. Best wishes.

Hi, Mg maybe low due to eating gluten (wheat/barley/rye..oats may act like gluten). Gluten may lower minerals absorbed if it hurts intestines. I take 400mg of Mg citrate daily in addition to Osteoprocare and eating no gluten/dairy/soy/sugar/GMO and taking vitamins/good oils, Vit D3, Vit C, zinc, fish oil, Nature’s plus- Source of life multiple, HCl and enzymes with meals, dairy free probiotic at night (far from stomach acid), Vit B12 methylcobalamin shot/spray/under the tongue kind/MTHF folate…coenzyme Q10, rhodiola, 5000mcg of biotin and more help me. LDN may help block hidden gluten. Gluten free food may have 20ppm of gluten which may hurt. Cook by scratch may help. I need Amour thyroid since gluten made antibodies to my thyroid. I drink reverse osmosis water..not tap water with C/F and buy organic. I needed detoxing also. Best wishes.

Osteoporosis may be due to eating gluten/dairy/soy/sugar/GMO. No gluten (wheat/barley/rye..oats may act like gluten) may lower nutrients/minerals absorbed in intestines. I take Osteoprocare instead of dairy and take bioidenical hormones…estriol/progesterone/testosterone. LDN helps block gluten and Vit B12 methylcobalamin shot/spray/under the tongue kind…MTHF folate helps build bone cells..Osteoblasts. Nature’s plus- Source of life multiple, Vit C, zinc, fish oil 2000mg, Mg citrate, Vit D3 5000IU, dairy free probiotic, HCl and enzymes with meals and more helps my bones. Exercise..daily walk in sunlight may help and LDN may help block hidden gluten which may hurt bones/eyes/brain/body. Nuts not in a shell/spices/basting may have hidden gluten on them and gluten free food may have 20ppm of gluten in it. Raw walnuts greatly help me, but need to open shells/freeze them so they are fresh. GMO corn may hurt the gut lining. GMO corn/soy/canola oil etc may hurt people. Best wishes.

HI, Gluten …wheat/barley/rye and oats have avenin which may act like gluten may cause low nutrients to be absorbed. Gluten along with dairy made seizures in me. I could not eat pizza etc. I need no gluten/dairy/soy/sugar/GMO…vitamins/good oils, detoxing, LDN and more. Nature’s Plus- Source of life multiple, zinc, fish oil, Mg citrate, Vit C, Vit D3, HCl and enzymes with meals, dairy free probiotic, Vit B12 methylcobalamin shot/spray/under the tongue kind and MTHF, 5000mcg of biotin/coenzyme Q10 and more help me. No gluten may help nutrients absorb in intestines so cells are made right to work right. GMO corn/soy/canola oil may also hurt. GMO corn may hurt the gut lining.I eat no premade food in a box/bag/label…eat organic…drink reverse osmosis water..not tap water that has C/F. Gluten maybe hidden in nuts not in the shell/meat basting/some spices etc. Certified gluten free may have 20 ppm of gluten which may hurt. Dairy hurt my brain and made seizures and ice cream may have gluten in it also. Ice cream hurt the most and sugar swells my brain. Best wishes.

Lymes eats up sugar/fat/Mg so a person maybe low in Mg. Mg citrate 400mg helps me and in my Osteoprocare drink is more Mg and in green vegetables. I have Lymes…A L complex and minocycline and more may help like Banderol, teasel, monolaurin, pumpkin seed powder etc. The Lymes swims in my brain when I eat. No gluten/dairy/soy/sugar/GMO may help the immune system and LDN, zinc, fish oil, Vit C and more. Serrapeptase at night may help eat up Lyme cysts. Best wishes.

At first, I took magnesium citrate 250mg 1x, it helps a little. Then I took 250mg 2x, 1 bed time, 1 morning. I also take beta blocker metoprolol in the morning. For a few months, heart rate & blood pressure were perfect. Then this month, I have palpatation (skip beat). All heart tests came back normal, some one suggests magn. might interact with beta blocker. I stopped all magn and within 2 days, skipped beats are gone 99%. Even my cardiologist said that they prescribe magn n potassium to treat skipped beats. Since I stopped magn, my blood pressure went back up. What is your take on this?

After many years as active R.N. who is holistic background-i still learned several things. I have been recommending topical Mag gel from Bioinnovations to many people, who have been helped. This builds on that, and helps them understand WHY more fully.
Every Blessing to You,
