I was told “in the real medical world there is no evidence of this being a real medical issue”. Of course I do not believe this at all! But now how do I know where to start? Should I just just do the cleanse based on the fact that I have a lot of the symptoms?

I do not recommend Nano Silver for this! It can harm beneficial bacteria.
Additionally, unless using Nano Silver is absolutely necessary, I do not recommend its use. Antibiotic resistance is a severe problem, and Nano Silver can be used for a lot of cases where the bacteria have become resistant to normal treatment methods. However, widespread use of it in non-necessary cases leads to an increase in the possibility of bacteria becoming resistant to it.

@Rebecca – Definitely consider waiting until your baby is weaned before doing *any* detox regimen. The toxins – in this case, dead candida – can be passed through your milk to your precious baby. You’ll have the rest of your life to detox, Mommy. Enjoy this special time of nursing relationship with your baby.

My husband is finally ready to do this diet to help him with his fungal issues, weight gain, and fatigue. I am a health coach and I used to have a job at a wellness center. The chiropractor and his wife swore by Health Max Nano Silver. My husband also has Celiac disease. I bought this for him one time and he experienced diarrhea. Although it could have been a die-off symptom, I felt uneasy about giving him (or anyone) something that could potentially be harmful to beneficial bacteria. (Especially because his gut is already screwed up.) Even though they claimed (and supposedly the company) that the silver does not harm good bacteria as if it can intelligently differentiate, but my common sense says that silver is an anti-biotic whether good or bad. Another caution I have is, when researching a referral for a client with Fibromyalgia and advanced Lyme disease, I came across a Dr. who does not recommend Silver because it can harm good gut bacteria, so when I finally referred her, I suggested she follow the Dr.’s protocol, and not take the nano silver just in case.
What is your opinion for using silver, especially for your Candida diet? Thank you–your expertise is important to me.

There are two articles on Candida from Dr. Axe One of them it says to eat Starchy foods(as it is beneficial for the spleen) in your diet… but not in the cleanse phase. The other article it says to avoid it in the diet until later… so?

I know it says when symptoms reduce but how can you be sure? Does a spit test help? Does a blood test help?
When can you start incorporating low carb foods or low sugar foods- I feel like the diet is not sustainable. I am worried that if I decide to have one paleo cake or raw cake in a month it will defeat all my hard work. A stevia cake? :'(

I think candida overgrowth can lead to leaky gut so the two are linked, I have both and just followed the above suggestion in addition to some supplements provided by my chiropractor and kinesiologist. I was tested for probiotic strains that my body responded to well and am also taking GI support.

I did the broth cleanse for a day and felt really really week so ate steamed veggies in the night. The next day I did broth + steamed veggies, the fay after that I decided to just do a salad in the day and steamed veggies with cooked veggies for dinner and add some flavour to it working within the limitations of the diet. I am on day 5 and only eating vegetables and fish right now, it helps restore my energy. Oh yes I’ve also had some seeds and nuts as I am starving- these include; pumpkin, brazil nuts, almonds- all sprouted and roasted at home to reduce the likelihood of mould.

Some foods may help you suppress your appetite a little. Some other foods may slightly increase your metabolic rate. Unfortunately, the effect is miniscule. The only way to really lose fat is to consume fewer calories than you burn. This way your body will tap into the fat stores to get the energy it needs. http://topweightlossmethods.blogspot.com

She has now stopped eating these fruits except a little berries and only eating greens/salads, she is on a detox cleanse.. I saw a few days ago you advised a vegetable broth for Candida, I can’t find it now only the bone broth but as Vegans can’t use that.

I would be very grateful if you could send me the link to the vegetable broth

This was really helpful. I was diagnosed with Candida about 10 years ago, I followed a similar regimen to the one aligned here. But now I believe is back my eczema never fully went away, now I have constant inflammation and bloating. I eliminated some sensitivity causing suspects like eggs and corn (my diet is pretty clean), but hasn’t helped. I suspected ACV was causing some inflammation but after reading article after article on how good it is, I kept taking it. I finally eliminated ACV for a week but didn’t get better fully but just a little better. I need to just remove it for a few weeks and see what happens. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I was on a supplement by Genestra Brands which was a form of garlic to help rid my body of candida. I cannot consume cruciferous vegetables as they make me extremely bloated and crampy yet the candida diet is full of them. What are my alternatives? Does anyone else have this problem?

I would like to know if there is a “printer friendly” version for printing out all of the Candida info…instructions, foods to avoid and to eat, diet, cleanses, recipes etc…
I have used a ton of ink and it still does not print out properly and cuts off pages etc. Plus there are many ads and unrelated info on the page sides that take up space and ink, which is not necessary to print. I would like a nice printer version to use in my kitchen and take shopping etc…Most websites have a printer friendly version for clients. This would be very helpful. Thank you. D.

Emily, thank you for this valuable information. I have recently switched from ACV to lemon water to maintain pH. I believe the ACV was feeding the candida instead of helping to combat the growth. This was only my suspicion until reading your post, now I am certain it was causing problems for me. Each of us is different and we should listen to our bodies. Thanks again.

When I was diagnosed with systemic candida back in 1997, my dr (Dr Morton Teich, affiliated with Mt Sinai in New York; an environmental MD who connected hormones, candida, allergies & chemicals) recommended not to consume apple cider vinegar if you have a candida issue. Apple cider vinegar can help kill certain strains of fungus, but not all- some strains it can actually promote yeast growth. I had cleared up candida from a candida diet, including eliminating apple cider vinegar. Fast forward to 2010, & I’m diagnosed with parasites & Lymes disease. I start the GAPS diet, & start feeling great on it. After a year of being on GAPS, I add in apple cider vinegar hoping it would promote good gut flora…. I start getting sick. After 6 months of continuing apple cider vinegar, I developed thrush & vaginal infections. I called Dr Teich since he helped me in the past with my candida, & he reminded me about how apple cider vinegar can promote certain strains. I stopped it, & after a month my thrush & infections have dissapeared. Not everyone is the same, so if you have issues with apple cider vinegar, this could be why.

I would like to know if you have considered what Sian Harris posted on Feb 13, 2016? It implies that this diet may cause more problems and feed candida. What do you think about this and could you please reply? My daughter and I want to follow your plan to eliminate candida, but this post has me concerned. Also, I have just ordered the King Bio AquaFlora products to help cleanse our body of candida via an herbal and homeopathic option. Are you familiar with this product and if not, could you check into it and comment on it for your readers? We respect your opinion.

Thank you,

But diet alone is often insufficient to stem aggressive candida infestation, and can lead sufferers to feel like failures. This was explained to me 30 years ago by a progressive doctor, who treated me with Nistatin alongside dietary changes and trials. Other complications can be if the infestation has moved into Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), when some of the usually good suggestions can actually feed the candida and add to malabsorption. In these cases, diet has to be more severely tailored, under medical or appropriate health carer supervision. There are also people who are now being classed as ‘slow responders’, for whom all of the above measures are only partial. For them, there may be underlying mineral and element imbalances, and they may need the supervision of a Nutritional and Functional Medicien doctor or practitioner. I think the measures which Josh outlines in this article are really good and helpful. But, based on my own long and challenging experiences, and observing others in the same boat, I now think we should also discuss the failure rate of a dietary approach alone, and give sufferers information and tools to move into deeper treatments, if they need that.

What do you think about kombucha? It needs sugar, and although I read a lot of good stuff about it, I also came across a few articles that say kombucha is not we think it is, and we need to avoid it, and it actually feeds candida. Some of my friends drink it and improve their gut health, but some say it makes things worse. I just wanted to know your point of view on this, because my daughter drinks a lot of it!
