It was a recipe created by a restauranteur in delhi, perhaps in to ’50’s. Originally he used leftover tandoori chicken in a masala curry. Tikkas are tandoori too, so naturally the same recipe applies. But it is supposed be be clay oven baked before u turn it into a ‘masala’.

I added turmeric as Brenda suggested and also made a small change, using fresh tomatoes + tomato purée insteed of crushed tomatoes. I was very surprised by the flavor of cooked brown basmati rice, I am from Asia, living in Europe and I can say it is even tastier than white rice. Thanks a lot!

We went gluten free about 2 months ago and I’m always looking for new recipes. Have made this 3 times now and it’s a hit every time! Only change I make is to add a little turmeric to boost color which happens to add a nice touch to flavor too. DNot that it needed it! Thanks for the recipe!
