Moringa tea is naturally low in calories and has zero sugar content. In terms of vitamins and minerals, it’s exceptionally high in vitamin A.

It also contains notable amounts of other really key nutrients like iron and calcium.

The most nutrient-dense versions of moringa leaf tea or moringa powder are organic and have been dried slowly under low temperatures. (This helps maintain delicate beneficial compounds.) This recipe is for a moringa tea latte, but you can also purchase moringa tea bags and simply add hot water to create a quick Moringa oleifera tea.

What Are the Side Effects of Taking Moringa?

Since moringa is a newer “superfood,” people have questions like these about moringa — and they are good ones!

It’s best to start off with a half teaspoon to one teaspoon of moringa per day to avoid unwanted side effects.

Moringa can have laxative effects and cause an upset stomach in high doses or when used too frequently, which is why most consumers choose to include it in their diets every several days rather than every single day to avoid these possible moringa side effects.

I wonder how available the nutrients are though due to moringa’s high phytic acid content. Not to mention it’s often made with oat or nut milk, which affects that absorption as well.

Is the 1½ tablespoons moringa powder in the recipe the correct amount? In the paragraph on side effects it says, “This recipe contains about three quarters of a teaspoon per serving…”
1½ tablespoons would equate to 2 1/4 teaspoons per serving.

That’s more than half the amount of carbs I consume in a day! I will skip the maple syrup (maple extract could be used for flavoring) and sweeten with a little stevia or monk fruit and I will use heavy whipping cream instead of cashew milk (not a fan of nut milks). This could be a great change from my bulletproof coffee and has so many health benefits!

Can you drink it later in the day? Also can you swap stevia for the maple syrup and can you add vanilla?

I just made this recipe with homemade cashew milk and also added a touch of pure vanilla extract, and it was divine! I couldn’t believe how creamy it was. I will definitely be making this again. I LOVE Moringa and it’s truly a superfood secret.

Moringa also contains several up to 14 different amino acids. Essential for healing after a workout and such. When I first purchased Moringa powder several years ago the aminos were listed on the packaging but have since been removed probably because it couldn’t be verified by the FDA. I’m not a big fan of the FDA anyway but if you google it you can get more info there.

If so, which brand do you recommend?
