Hey Everyone! I’ve been pretty busy with organizing this Autism Kids Run. It’s a lot of work but I am excited to see it coming together a bit. It has kept me pretty busy and I have been slacking in some other departments but not to bad. I am being a busy homeschooling mom. Even though the school year is over, I don’t consider it a break for me. I have a hard time with thinking that my kids are supposed to retain everything that they learn if they don’t practice any of it during the summer. I definitely don’t feel pressure to do some crazy strict homeschooling schedule but want to make sure we get in some basics, especially reading. Therefore, my mornings are more going to be working with the kids with some light learning and reading. I have been fitting in some runs 2-3 times a week. I also have been pretty strict about doing my pushups/chinups every other day. I have been working on chores around the house, getting the kids out of the house, making a little extra money on the side, and of course organizing the autism run.
I did decide to call it quits when it came to intermittent fasting. It was a good experiment, and I did learn a few things. I just ultimately decided it wasn’t a good fit for me and decided to try something new. I am going to test out the Carnivore diet for the month of June, more on that later. I think it’s time to touch base on my goals.
Mental – This one I am still working at, but I feel like it comes in spurts. I will sit down and have a hard time putting down the book or find myself picking it up multiple times. The other side, I have been having a couple days here and there that I just can’t get everything done that I want to and don’t sit down to pick up my book. I have finished another book and I am waiting for the second book to two different series that I started. For anyone that hasn’t read Ellen Hopkins books in verse. These books are intense, sad situations that are written in a way that gives such a strong amount of depth and feeling. Anyway, I still love reading and I’m so glad this is a part of my life again.
Physical – As I mentioned earlier, I am going running about 2-3 times per week. Lately because of the autism run coming up, my 7-year-old has been interested in joining. I have been going on a 2 mile run in a loop around my house. Then I grab my son and he runs a 1 mile loop with me. He has really good days and some days he doesn’t want to do anything but walk. However, I’m ecstatic that he wants to join me in this exercise.
Pullups – I am definitely feeling stronger with this. I have been doing two pullups and two chin ups. Then using an exercise band to assist me in doing another three each. So, this gives me a total of 10 combined with 6 assisted. I try to do it 3 to 4 times a day. However, I am only doing this every other day as to not overtax the muscles.
Adventures – We have been out swimming quite a bit lately. The boys are loving it and I am really hoping to get them more comfortable with swimming. My 7 year old is going to give me a lot of trouble with this. He really sees no reason why he should learn if he can just wear a life jacket. My 4 year old is much more interested and willing. We are planning on going to a charity event for autism awareness this month. Then we have out own event for the autism fun run this month as well. It will be a full month with lots going on for us.
Does anyone else have any new goals that they are working towards? What kind of goals have you accomplished lately.
